Northern Highlands High School, NJ

Northern Highlands High School, near the New Jersey/New York border, has plenty to brag about with a proud athletic and academic tradition. But the new running track ATT Sports installed in the summer of 2018 gives the Highlanders a new feather in their cap – it is the first and only school in New Jersey with a gel-based track.
The system is the Rekortan G13, which is a revolutionary environmentally friendly track which features a base layer that is 88 percent recycled or renewable. The plant-based product is also high-performance, giving runners a soft feel that’s comfortable for training, but it also returns energy efficiently, so competitors don’t sacrifice any speed.
This project, designed by LAN Associates, included a new turf field, as well as milling and paving the track area. (Thanks to our friends at Halecon.)
ATT Sports also installed a G13 at Jersey City’s Lincoln Park in 2016, which you can read about here.

Northern Highlands High School is now the only school in New Jersey with a gel-based running track.
