In terms of excitement for an all-weather running track installation company, getting to be part of the launch of a collegiate track and field program is about as good as it gets.
In the summer of 2020, ATT Sports was able to do just that, teaming up with LandTek to build a brand world-class facility for the Fairleigh Dickinson Devils, who plan to launch an NCAA Division III track and field team in the near future. Aside from the honor of building a new facility from the ground up, it’s also great to see another in-state collegiate destination for the many athletes who want to continue competing in track at field at the next level.
Future Devils will be running on a “Steel Blue” embedded “sandwich system” running track, complete with eight lanes, fully surface D zones, a steeplechase and all-weather javelin runway. The surfacing will last a decade or more before it can be simply resurfaced.
ATT Sports met with school officials and representatives from Derck & Edson, the architecture firm overseeing the project, to discuss the needs of the school as well as their vision for the future and their values. Ultimately, the decision was made to surround the new turf field hockey and lacrosse field with what is easily the most popular and dependable track surface on the market in the Rekortan M (formerly called Spurtan BV). The Rekortan M is the most widely World Athletics certified track system in the world, making it an easy choice. The stunning “Steel blue” color decision makes for a visual aesthetic right at home on the sprawling North Jersey campus boasting an extraordinary Vanderbilt mansion as its centerpiece.
