Merrimack College, MA
Just north of Boston sits Merrimack College, an elite institution with a proud athletics tradition. ATT Sports was honored to be invited to bid on the track work as part of a brand new multi-use field and football stadium.
With the help of Quirk Construction and using a design from Huntress Associates, we built a 7,945-square-yard Spurtan BS “mat and spray” track complete with eight full lanes, two fully paved D-zones, a two-way pole vault runway and two long/triple jump runways. Because of concerns about overspray at the brand new, state of the art facility, every precaution necessary was taken to cover nearby surfaced with plastic, including the entire field, scoreboard and bleachers.
Time was of the essence on this project with Merrimack’s homecoming football game quickly approaching. To meet an aggressive deadline and out of consideration for spraying material on a busy college campus, ATT Sports’ crews had the lights at the field turned on and completed some of the wearing course spraying overnight.
The result is a Merrimack Stadium that will be the centerpiece for the university’s athletics for decades to come.
ATT Sports carefully applied a "mat and spray" system for the eight-lane track at Merrimack College in Andover, Mass.
